The Panasonic AG-HMC40 is a camcorder designed to record in high definition on standard Secure Digital (SD) and SDHC memory cards. The camera is extremely portable and lightweight, weighing in at just over 2 lbs. While SD-based camcorders have been gaining ground in the consumer market, the AG-HMC40 has the ability to record AVCHD images at significantly higher bitrates. This enhancement makes the camera’s codec more efficient than comparable HD interframe codecs, such as HDV and XDCAM EX. Using H.264 as its compression algorithm the camera can record incredibly detailed images at a fraction of the file size. The handle is detachable and can hold an optional XLR audio system.

good camera for the price. also, lots of features so it may take a little getting used to. the “slide” control for moving from option to option in the menu takes a bit to get used to but that comes wiht a few practices. video is great and the camera is fairly easy to use out of the box. charge it up and go for the most part. have not edited too much with the software so I cant comment on that yet.

I got his camera for 0, and it was a great purchase. First, the camera is very compact which makes it easy to carry around. Even with its size, it has a 30GB storage and a 10x opitical zoom. I like the f/1.8 Konica Minolta lens, which focuses very quickly and takes some great-looking still photos. The 7-megapixel sensor also helps with its recording. Videos are recorded in MPEG format so it is very esay to transfer onto your computer for editing; no conversion necessary. Colors were very pleasing and white balance was also good. Definitely worth purchasing
